Mrs.Sunitha Raj, Artistic Director of Nrithyanjali School of Dance, is a well known exponent of Indian classical dance, who received her training from world renowned Guru Sri.Padmashree Vazhuvoor Ramaiyya Pillai and Sri.Kalaimamani Vazhuvoor R.Samaraj. She began dancing at the tender age of 3 and did her arangetram at the age of 11. She has won numerous awards as well as performed at prestigious dance festivals in India. She has had the privilege of experiencing the age old tradition of Guru Kulam, where the student lives in the household of the teacher and receives training to be a teacher.

 

She has been instrumental as the Lead Choreographer, Creative Head and Director for NSOD’s Dance Drama Productions like ‘Ramayan’, ‘Sivagamiyin Sabadham’, ‘Shiva Shakti’, ‘Krishna’ and ‘Dasavathar’.

 

Mrs.Sunitha Raj earned the love and devotion of her fans not only through dance, but also from playing lead role in numerous South Indian movies.  She is known as 'Kodai Mazhai Vidya' and 'Vidyashree' and has paired with leading stars like Mamooty, Mohan Lal, Jayaram, Ambarish, Anant Nag, Shivraj Kumar and  has performed Stage shows / Star Shows, with stalwarts such as Amitabh Bachchan, Mamooty, Mohan Lal, etc.  

 

Apart from this, she is also the founding Director of International Classical Art Connections (ICAC), a non-profit organization which strives to empower the community with knowledge, understanding and confidence through the collaboration of international arts.
